NYC Events on My Radar This Week (November 15-21)

Next week, Quail and I are making our yearly trip up to Providence. We literally just go to eat pizzas and play arcade games at Freeplay all night. It’s going to be great! Meanwhile, in NYC, the indoor events are starting to take off with the arrival of colder weather. You can spot Christmas lights starting to go up (be on the lookout for an updated list of the best ones in the city over on Mommy Poppins).

And now, here are some more hand-picked cool events happening around NYC this upcoming week that popped up in my inbox. (Noting as always that I don’t receive anything for sharing these events.) Enjoy!

NYC Activities for This Weekend (November 15 & 16)

Pink & Green night is coming to Color Factory.

The Coca-Cola Holiday Caravan

When: November 15 & 16

Where: Multiple locations (check the map)

Spot a vintage Coca-Cola Truck in the city this weekend for some cool freebies and a unique photo-op. The truck is at Times Square today (November 14), but you can still catch it in Staten Island tomorrow and two locations in Brooklyn on Sunday. See the caravan’s next stops and learn more here.

Pink + Green Night

When: November 16, 4-6 p.m.

Where: Color Factory

I know it’s a Wicked! thing, but pink and green is one of my favorite color combinations, it makes me think of tourmaline. The Insta-popular indoor playground, Color Factory, is celebrating the color combo this weekend in a special afternoon event. Sing along to the soundtrack, play in the colorful exhibits, and get a discount on all pink and green things. Tickets are $29 per person. More info about Color Factory can be found here.

360 Allstars Performance

When: November 16, 4 p.m.

Where: Kupferberg Center for the Arts (65-30 Kissena Blvd.)

The 360 Allstars show is like an sports circus: a performance featuring some of the best athletes and artists in BMX, basketball, breakdancing, acrobatics, and drumming. It looks like a great time. Tickets are $37 and can be purchased here.

NYC Things to Do in the Coming Week (November 17-21)

Celebrate Wayzgoose at South Street Seaport.

SHARE THE HARVEST

When: November 17, 10 a.m.

Where: 2 St. Ann’s Avenue in the Bronx

Food waste rescue organization City Harvest has teamed up with online grocery FreshDirect to provide Thanksgiving meals for New Yorkers in a massive giveaway. A whopping 700 turkeys and 700 bags of produce will be handed out to locals, and refreshments will be provided by FreshDirect. This info is from a press release and there’s no official event page, but you can see a bit more info at this local Bronx news website.

Vessel Lighting Ceremony

When: November 20, 6-7 p.m.

Where: Hudson Yards Public Square (11th Avenue & Hudson Blvd E)

Stop by to watch Hudson Yards and the Vessel light up for the winter season. Shine Bright is a returning event, but this is the first year they’re making a spectacle of the lighting, itself. Live music will be provided by Kelsie Watts (from Broadway’s Six), Sing Harlem Choir, and Orchestra of St. Luke’s. More info here.

Wayzgoose Holiday Kick Off

When: November 20, 6-9 p.m.

Where: South Street Seaport (207 Water Street)

Mark the changing season with a 500-year-old tradition with the silly name of Wayzgoose. Originally, this is when printers would mark the end of summer and the start printing by candle-light. You can participate in some Wayzgoose fun at the South Street Seaport’s Printing Office, where you’ll be able to make your own printing using historical printing presses and movable type. Very cool! This event is FREE, and you can reserve a spot here.
