Quail Trails

We went diving at Cape Maeda with the Pink Mermaid dive shop. We signed up for the Blue Cave dive but the water conditions weren’t great so we just did a shore dive instead.

The visibility was incredible and the ecosystem was thriving. There were so many huge black sea cucumbers, and some triggerfish followed us around (but didn’t attack, thankfully). My favorite were the blennies that were sitting on the bttom and blending in with the sand.

Quail and I lagged behind but Crow managed to keep up with our speedy Dive Master. Everyone at the shop was super nice and most spoke great English. (Though I did speak Japanese with our guide, who was surprised and asked how I learned it. Pretty insane to realize I studied it over 18 years ago and can still speak and understand passable, toddler-level Japanese.)

I’d love to come back and actually dive at the Blue Cave!
