Okinawa, Japan: Stepping into history at Ryukyu Mura

We had no idea what we had stumbled into when we walked into Ryukyu Mura. We bought entry tickets and a very nice lady led us to the theater for a traditional drum and dance performance. I said I spoke a little Japanese and she proceeded to talk to me like I was a native. I tried to keep up!

The traditional drum and dance performance was fantastic. The drummers had such incredible power and the singing was haunting. Crow said the drumming opened her fourth eye (not sure when her third was opened but it is what it is).

We also had delicious ice cream, saw a water buffalo up close, bought sake that’s distilled at the location, and hung out with the butterflies at the butterfly garden. We ended up spending a few hours there. Good times all around!
