Osaka, Japan: Shitenno-ji Temple And Market

Shienno-ji is the oldest practicing Buddhist Temple in Japan, and we lucked into it on Sunday. This means it was bustling with people and dogs visiting a market on the grounds that was full of local crafts and treats.

The temple grounds were huge, with several traditional buildibgs, a pond full of turtles, and some beautiful blooming sakura trees.

We got some freshly ground coffee, a hot yam, a crepe and some beautiful earrings. In ither words, a good haul! We were definitely singled out by the sellers to try and get us to buy, but I’m a New Yorker we we easily moved on, but it’s definitrly something to consider when visiting. (All images of vendors and their wares were taken with permission!)
