NYC Events on My Radar This Week (October 10 & Beyond)

While I work on setting up posts about my adventures around the world, I figured I’d make a list of the random NYC events that pop up in my inbox.

Every week, I’ll create a roundup of cool events, openings, and other happenings around New York City that I think are worth throwing out into the void of the internet. (Note: I don’t get anything from sharing these.) Enjoy!

Cool Things Happening Soon In NYC

South Korean Bluegrass Concert (Oct 10)

That’s a combination I never thought I’d see, but you read that right: Meet Country Gongbang, South Korea’s first bluegrass band. The group is performing at the Kupferberg Center October 10, at 8 (that’s tonight!). Get tickets here.

New Cocktail Bar in Cobble Hill (Oct 16)

Cobble Hill is getting a swanky new cocktail bar: the brand-new BAR RÊVE (222 Smith St) is opening this week. They don’t seem to have a website, and their Instagram is pretty sparse, but you can expect to start seeing images online after an exclusive opening night, which is happening on October 16.

Celebrate Fall with Live or Livestreamed Ballet (Oct 22)

Catch a historic final performance from Misty Copeland at the Fall Gala on October 22. Lincoln Center and the American Ballet Theatre are giving away “hundreds” of free tickets to visitors who show up at 4 p.m. at the Alice Tully Hall Box Office. The event will also be broadcast live (starting at 6:15 p.m.), so you don’t even have to leave the house for this one. Check that out here.

Horror Hits By Candlelight (Oct 24)

The awesome Candlelight Concerts is making things spooky for this extra-special Halloween edition. Listen to hits from classic horror flicks like The Shining, Friday the 13th, The Exorcist, and more. The chilling concert will take place, appropriately, at the Church of the Heavenly Rest, on October 24. Get tickets here.

Spooky Drinks All October

A bunch of places around the city have already dusted off their spooky Halloween menus. Here’s a handful of locations serving up chills all October (thanks Le CollectiveM!):

  • Romeo’s (East Village, website): Serving Halloween-themed drinks through October 31.
  • Vintage Green Rooftop (Murray Hill, website): Celebrate with the Scarlet Nightshade, topped with lychee and blueberry “eyeballs” (no Nightshade involved in the making of the drink, promise!).
  • Treadwell Park (Upper East Side, website): Join the space for two Halloween parties, the Masquerade (10/24), and Haunted Park (10/25).
