Osaka, Japan: Delicious and Welcoming Yamamoto Ramen

We relocated to Osaka yesterday. Because of a storm in Okinawa (wild winds!!), our flight was delayed and we once again spent the whole day traveling. We were starving when we got in so we went out in search of a place open late, and that’s how we found Yamamoto.

The door is completely unassuming and we wouldn’t have known there’s anything there if it weren’t for Google Maps. We were welcomed by an old man who slowly explained the options in Japanese and patiently waited for us to figure out the sparse menu.

We ordered two clear ramens and one creamy, plus three spring rolls. The spring rolls were crispy on the outside and hot and delicious on the inside. The clear ramen noodles were thin and on the denser side, with a salty mild broth that wasn’t too fatty. The creamy ramen was by far the best, with a thick milky broth. The whole order came out to roughly $18 USD, which made us sob in capitalism for a bit.

Best of all, we felt completely welcome and un-judged. Amazing first meal in Osaka!
